UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, is scheduled to meet today with his Personal Envoy for the Cyprus Issue,
Their meeting follows Ms. Olguín’s recent visits to Nicosia, Ankara, and Athens. According to the UN Secretary-General’s published schedule of activities for Friday, the meeting will take place 15 minutes after noon New York time (7:15 p.m. Cyprus time).
Ms. Olgin is reportedly set to discuss with the UN Secretary-General the results of her meetings with the two sides in Cyprus, as well as with Greece and Turkey.
She will then travel to Brussels for discussions with the EU and from there will return to Nicosia for further meetings with the President of the Republic, Nicos Christodoulides, and with the Turkish Cypriot leader, Tufan Erhürman.
The UN Secretary-General’s goal is to finalize plans for a new informal 5+1 meeting in New New York or Geneva during the last week of July or the first week of August, with the ultimate goal of resuming negotiations on the Cyprus issue.
