Christos Tzolis not only recovered from his strain in record time, but also played nearly the entire match (84 minutes) and was instrumental in Arsenal’s victory over Liverpool at Anfield (0-1).
Mikel Arteta praised the 24-year-old winger and his desire to play. “He showed tremendous energy in training. When I asked him how confident he was—we also had an issue with Eze—it was truly incredible that he made the squad today. I want to give credit to the entire medical staff and the fitness team, because what they’re doing with these players is incredible. Every three days, they manage to keep everyone at this level,” the Basque coach said initially.
“Sometimes it’s the little details that determine whether you’ll win a soccer match—whether you have a player available or not. They really deserve the credit. As for Christos, he’s incredible. He didn’t want to leave the field; he wanted to finish the game. We took some risks, and at that point we decided it was enough,” added Arteta.
