The intervention by officers from Team Z in Paphos was immediate and life-saving, as during the celebrations for the national holiday on October 28, a 7-year-old boy fainted, causing him to fall to the ground and hit his head.
The incident occurred around 11:00 a.m. during the singing of the national anthem in Paphos’s City Hall Square, when a member of the public alerted the members of Team Z, who were present, about the child.
The child, according to his father, was standing on a small pillar about 50 centimeters high when he lost consciousness and fell to the ground.
The team members provided first aid to the 7-year-old and called an ambulance.
Police officers then escorted the ambulance to the child’s location, as the streets were closed and the area was crowded due to the parade.
The parade commander was then informed to delay the start of the parade until the child was picked up, and the police officers subsequently escorted the ambulance to the Emergency Department of the General Hospital.
As one of the three police officers who assisted the operation noted in a post, “the child was immediately taken into the care of the ambulance crew, and with the assistance and escort of Team Z, the child was transported to the hospital in 3 minutes.”
He then personally contacted the 7-year-old’s father, who informed him that everything was going well.
“Team Z is here for the public. It’s not just about complaints,” was the message sent by the police officer.
