Shortly after 11:00, the grand military parade began in Thessaloniki to mark the national holiday of October 28, which is taking place in the presence of the President of the Hellenic Republic, Konstantinos Tasoulas, and the Prime Minister of Greece, Kyriakos Mitsotakis. Defense Minister Vasilis Palmas is also in attendance.
Attention is focused on the new weapons systems being unveiled for the first time, including air defense systems that are part of the multi-layered “Shield of Achilles.”
Of particular note are the systems designed to counter unmanned aerial vehicles (drones), which include detection and electronic jamming equipment, as well as missile interception systems.

At the same time, mock-up missiles are on display during the parade so the public can see this specific equipment, as the actual systems are transported in special vehicles.
Leopard tanks are also on Megalou Alexandrou Avenue, along with other military vehicles and equipment participating in this year’s parade.
At the October 28 military parade in Thessaloniki, a National Guard detachment—including a Commando Platoon and veterans who fought during the Turkish invasion—will participate for the first time. Cypriot OUK reservists will also march, with a contingent from the Cyprus Amphibious Reservists Association.
