"The signs so far are positive," said President of the Republic Nicos Christodoulides on Wednesday when asked about developments regarding the Cyprus issue.
When asked by reporters before the inauguration ceremony for the headquarters of the Cyprus Confederation of Organizations of Persons with Disabilities in Nicosia whether he was optimistic, he said “Yes, I am optimistic. I’ve exchanged messages with Ms. Olgin, but we’re awaiting the official announcements. The signals so far have been positive, and I hope that when we reach the stage of announcements, these will translate into concrete announcements.”
When asked if there is anything on Turkey’s part that indicates the process is moving forward, the President said he did not wish to comment on what is happening with Turkey and noted that Ms. Olgin had already spoken publicly today about messages from the Turkish side.
“We are ready—I repeat—to make positive announcements that will pave the way for an expanded conference aimed at announcing the resumption of talks from where they were suspended,” the President concluded.
