AEK is actively pursuing the signing of Kings Kangwa, with reports from Israel indicating that the club has already submitted an official offer to Hapoel Be’er Sheva for the 27-year-old midfielder. Kangwa is a familiar name to the “yellow-and-blacks,” as he was also on their radar last summer, and AEK faced him in the second qualifying round of the Conference League, where he stood out for the intensity and aggressiveness of his play.
This season, he had the most productive year of his career, scoring 12 goals and providing 11 assists in 40 appearances, playing a decisive role in Be’er Sheva’s league title win after an eight-year drought. The Israeli club had signed him in 2024 from Red Star for 800,000 euros, and within two years, Kangwa had become one of the league’s most influential midfielders.
The Zambian international midfielder, with 43 appearances and 7 goals for the national team, possesses the qualities AEK is seeking following Orbelin Pineda’s departure to Monterrey. He is a player with intensity, pace, the ability to penetrate the box, and create chances—qualities that make him an ideal fit for the type of midfielder Marco Nikolić is looking for.
In the past, he has played for Arsenal Tula, Kortrijk, as well as Happy Heart FA and Buildcon FC in Zambia, steadily building a career that has brought him into the European spotlight. AEK sees Kangwa as a player who can immediately join the rotation, contribute effectively, and continue to develop, given that his age allows for further growth.
The submission of an offer indicates that the matter is not merely at the exploratory stage, but represents a genuine effort to strengthen the midfield, with AEK targeting a player who can fill the void left by Pineda and bring dynamism to the new season.
