The Clippers kicked off their preseason campaign with a win, defeating the Warriors 104-101 at the Stan Sheriff Center in Honolulu. The game saw several shifts in momentum, with the Clippers building a significant lead in the first half and the Warriors making a strong comeback after halftime.
The Los Angeles team led 21-20 at the end of the first quarter and stepped on the gas in the second, taking a 53-39 halftime lead. Rui Hachimura was the winners’ leading scorer with 21 points in just 15 minutes, shooting 8-for-11 from the field and 4-for-5 from three-point range, while Darius Garland added 15 points and 6 assists without missing a single shot from the field.
The Warriors fought back in the second half, particularly in the fourth quarter, where they scored 34 points and made it a close game again. Charles Bassy scored 12 points, while Graham Aik and Brandon Williams each had 11. Steph Curry played for 13 minutes and finished with 10 points, 2 assists, and 2 steals.
Despite the Warriors’ pressure down the stretch, the Clippers held on to their lead and secured a 104-101 victory. For both teams, however, the result takes a back seat, as the main focus of the preseason is evaluating lineups, helping new players adjust, and gradually getting the starters into game rhythm ahead of the regular season.
